The fruit was sourced from orchards in the northern provinces of Bac Giang and Hai Duong, the two main lychee growing hubs in the country. They were shipped to Yunnan, China, at an average volume of 200 tonnes to 250 tonnes per day.

The Lao Cai border gate customs sub-department has closely co-ordinated with functional agencies to create the most favourable conditions for the export of fresh lychees to the Chinese market.

A parking lot for trucks loaded with fresh lychee was set up at the border gate and the trucks were given priority for customs clearance in order to ease their load and ensure the freshness and quality of the fruit.

“We have asked our staff to start working 15 minutes earlier than normal in order to provide support and instruction for businesses so that fresh lychees can quicky undergo customs clearance for export in accordance with all regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control,” he said.
