Athletics competitions began in Ha Long city

Within the framework of the Provincial Sports Games, athletics competitions kicked off this morning at the Provincial Sports Training and Competition Center.

As planned, these competitions attract 142 athletes from 13 districts, towns and cities in the province. 86 male athletes and 56 female athletes are scheduled to compete for 24 sets of medals in 24 events such as 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, 5,000m, relay, high jump, jump far, weightlifting, etc.

On the first day, athletes took part in several competitions belong to categories of the 100m, 800m and women's high jump.

As a result, the first prize in the women's 100m event was awarded to athlete Tran Thi Uyen (Dong Trieu) with the result of of 13 seconds 03, the first prize in the men's 100m was granted to athlete Lam Quang Huy (Cam Pha) with the result of 11 seconds 39. The first prize of high jump belonged to athlete Mac Minh Thu (Tien Yen) with an achieved bar level of 1m50.

All of athletics competitions will last until October 6.
