Developing digital infrastructure to meet the needs of connection and data processing

According to the Department of Telecommunications (Ministry of Information and Communications), over the past time, businesses have invested in telecommunications network infrastructure with fiber optic networks covering 100% of communes and wards; mobile network coverage (2G, 3G, 4G) to 99.8% of the population, testing 5G in 16 provinces and cities.
Currently, the country has about 71 million internet users, accounting for more than two-thirds of the population. Fixed broadband internet service speed reached 68.50Mbps, ranked 42/181 countries and territories (up 14 places compared to 2020), mobile broadband service speed (3G, 4G) reached 35 .14Mbps, ranked 48/141 (up 9 places compared to 2020). These are considered necessary conditions, ready for national digital transformation.
Technology development trends have created new types of services, new business models, promoted the formation of new telecommunications infrastructure combined with other technical infrastructures. Therefore, network operators also change and develop telecommunications network infrastructure in the direction of digital infrastructure.
According to Mr. Huynh Quang Liem, General Director of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), the VNPT 4.0 strategy has positioned VNPT to become the leading digital service provider in Vietnam. Therefore, to achieve this goal, the Group has established a pioneering role in providing digital infrastructure, digital platforms, digital data and digital applications.
On the side of state management agencies, Mr. Nguyen Phong Nha - Deputy Director of the Department of Telecommunications said that in order to serve the national digital transformation process, right in 2022, the Department of Telecommunications orients the operators. The network covers mobile broadband networks with speeds above 1Gb to industrial parks and high-tech zones. Along with that, set a target that 100% of adults have smartphones; 75% of households have fiber optic cable; 100% of mobile phone users have a Mobile Money account; increase the market share of cloud computing services of Vietnamese enterprises to 40%.
Vu Hoang Lien, Chairman of the Vietnam Internet Association (VIA), said that internet users in Vietnam are increasing rapidly. In 2012, Vietnam only had about 30.8 million Internet users. According to recent statistics that increased to about 71 million people. The COVID-19 pandemic is a factor that affects and contributes to reshaping Vietnam's Internet economy in the coming time. During the pandemic, many users tend to experiment with new digital services in the fields of entertainment, healthcare and especially online training. This can be seen clearly in the search trends of Internet users in Vietnam in the recent announcement of Google Year in Search 2021.
From this fact, Mr. Vu Hoang Lien said: "Data on the Internet today is becoming the lifeblood of the economy and a driving force for innovation. The smart use of data on the Internet can be possible. has a transformative impact on all sectors of the economy and can create new opportunities for economic growth, including for small and medium enterprises.
Mr. Pham Duc Long, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications (TT & TT) said that, with the efforts of the Government, Prime Minister and ministries, branches and localities, the transformation of awareness and institutional creation has been achieved. implemented well, creating positive results on all 3 pillars: Digital Government, Digital Economy and Digital Society.
"The Ministry of Information and Communications orients to build and develop synchronously the national data infrastructure, with the goal of bringing Vietnamese people's data to storage in Vietnam, forming a system of international and national data centers and centers regional and local data centers are connected synchronously and unifying in order to turn Vietnam into a regional and international data storage and processing center.This ensures that Vietnamese data is stored in Vietnam. when 80% of current data may be on foreign platforms," said Mr. Pham Duc Long.
