DOUBLE BENEFITS FROM BIG WOODEN FORESTS IN THREE CHOICES
Implement the project of planting large timber forests and planting medicinal plants, with the goal of turning the locality into a forestry and medicinal center of Quang Ninh province. In recent years, many models of developing medicinal herbs under the canopy of large timber forests have been effectively deployed in the mountainous district of Ba Che. The success of these models not only creates a foundation for sustainable forestry development, bringing high economic benefits to people, but also contributes to environmental protection and climate change response in the area. Since 2018, the district has developed a project to plant large timber forests and plant materials in the area in the period of 2019-2025. The scheme sets out a goal by 2025 to form and develop stably a large timber area with a scale of 5,000 ha and 800 ha of medicinal herbs, of which 384 ha of basilica, 189 ha of yellow tea, and 227 ha of other medicinal herbs. In the past years, from the fact that people only planted short-crop forests in the form of just waiting for the support of the State, up to now, most of the families have invested in afforestation by themselves; On average, the district grows 3,304ha of new forest every year, increasing the forest coverage rate from 68.2% in 2015 to 72% in 2020 and is the leading locality in the province in terms of forest development. The project on planting large trees has been responded to by the people, so far the whole district has planted 956 hectares, of which mainly pine, samu, doi, cinnamon and over the years many families have really escaped poverty. Thanks to afforestation, many families get rich from the benefits of forests. |
