Firmly develop the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos
Accepting the invitation of General Secretary and President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith, comrade Vo Van Thuong, Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will officially visit the Lao People's Democratic Republic from April 1, 2020. The official visit of President Vo Van Thuong to Lao PDR aims to continue implementing the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, focusing on state relations and cooperation. This is also the first official visit to Laos by comrade Vo Van Thuong after being elected President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam by the 15th National Assembly on March 2, 2023.
The fact that President Vo Van Thuong chose the fraternal country of Laos as his first official visit country after taking office not only shows that the Party and State of Vietnam are always consistent, valuing and giving the highest priority to strengthening and cultivating the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, but also showing the special "unique" nature of the relationship between the two countries. country, showing the efforts of the two Parties and States in maintaining the development momentum of bilateral relations.
The visit took place in the context of the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos being on a very good path of development, agreements by senior leaders of the two Parties, and joint statements on the occasion of the leaders' visit. At the high level of the two countries, cooperation agreements between the two governments are being actively implemented by both sides and achieving many important results in all fields.
Political relations between the two countries continue to be close and stable, with many forms, creating high political trust, playing a core role and orientation in the overall cooperative relationship of Vietnam and Laos in the other areas.
Defense and security cooperation continues to be strengthened.
