First semiconductor plant in north begins operations

The first semiconductor plant in Vietnam’s north was officially put into operation on September 16 at the Van Trung Industrial Park in Bac Giang province.
Invested in by South Korea’s Hana Micron Vina Co., Ltd, the plant manufactures integrated circuit boards used for mobile phones and other smart electronic products.
The first phase of the project started operations in November, 2020.
Total investment will reach nearly $600 million.
The company plans to increase its total investment to over $1 billion by 2025, with annual revenue estimated at $800 million and 4,000 jobs created, according to its Chairman Choi Chang Ho.
South Korea is the leading foreign investor in Bac Giang in terms of project numbers, with 345.
South Korean businesses make up 25 per cent of all industrial production value from FDI enterprises in the province.
