Mong Cai City: Maximum support for import-export businesses
Since the beginning of 2021, the Covid-19 epidemic has directly impacted the socio-economic development, including import and export activities. Therefore, in order for import-export activities to always be "smooth", Mong Cai City has implemented many synchronous and flexible measures to support businesses in the area.
Import and export activities of goods across Bac Luan Bridge II take place safely during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, since the beginning of the year, the Chinese side has continued to tighten quarantine, check goods, quality, traceability ... leading to slow progress of customs clearance; the cost of logistics services, transportation, loading and unloading of goods at the gathering place is high. In particular, the delivery and receipt of goods at the border gate are affected due to the implementation of measures to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic, incurring additional costs.
Specifically, at the Bac Luan Bridge II border gate, Saturday and Sunday are closed, causing traffic and storage problems, affecting the production plan of domestic enterprises. When the Km3+4 Hai Yen Road is congested, businesses are forced to export dragon fruits through the Bac Luan Bridge II border gate, the cost is 4 times higher because they have to pay VAT on imports from China.
Mong Cai City has directed border gate sectors, agencies, units, organizations, enterprises, and drivers to strictly and effectively implement the measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic, in order to ensure the complete elimination of risks of Covid-19 infection, and regularly exchange and notify Dongxing City (China) to create trust on their side. Along with that, continue to arrange means of transport of import and export goods to ensure ventilation, minimize the storage of goods and vehicles for businesses, and do not let damaged goods be dumped; fully arrange a force of drivers to transship import and export goods for businesses to ensure stability in service prices, timely serve customs clearance activities...
According to the representative of LG ELECTRONICS Vietnam Co., Ltd. Hai Phong: Facing with difficulties and impacts of the Covid-19 epidemic, businesses have been supported and facilitated by Mong Cai City in terms of policies and methods to prevent and control the epidemic, helping businesses' goods circulate stably. In the coming time, the unit hopes that the city will have more timely support before the developments of the epidemic so that it can be more convenient when exporting through the area.
With many positive and synchronous solutions from the city, it has contributed to stabilizing businesses when carrying out import-export activities through the area and helping the city effectively implement the set "dual goals". Since the beginning of the year, Mong Cai city has attracted 611 enterprises to carry out import and export through the area, an increase of 4% compared to the same period in 2020.
According to the Mong Cai International Border Gate Management Board, the amount of agricultural, forestry and fishery products imported and exported in the area since the beginning of the year has increased sharply, with the total import-export turnover reaching 2.453 billion USD, up 25% over the same period last year. In which, exports reached 1.304 billion USD, up 91% over the same period and imports reached 1.148 billion USD, equaling 90% of the same period. The total weight of goods is estimated at over 1.2 billion tons, an increase of 83.8% over the same period in 2020, completing 85% of the plan for 2021. It is estimated that by September 30, the total volume of import and export goods through the area will reach 1 4.4 billion tons, completing 94% of the 2021 plan.
