19/06/2021

Logistics is one of sectors that have been given special attention by Mong Cai City. Thanks to available advantages, the city has focused on undertaking a number of measures in order to turn the city into a busy shipping gateway between ASEAN countries and China.

Over years, Mong Cai City has mobilized all sources to invest in port systems, domestic berths, warehouses, and technical equipment which serve the control of imported and exported commodities.

Besides, it offers preferential policies with the aim of attracting strategic partners and big economic firms’ investment into trade sector in the locality. Standing out among those is VinGroup with its complex of industries, services, and logistics lying in the south of Luc Lam River in Hai Hoa Ward.

The city also co-ordinates with Dongxing City (China) to study and carry out the model of “electronic border gate” and the model “one stop – one check”; online quarantine declaration; and logistics development for a chain of frozen goods. Both sides have organized dialogues within the scope of cooperation with the aim of creating the most favorable conditions for trade activities, and imports and exports.

Mong Cai City has made a report to the Government and Quang Ninh’s authority on the proposal of building Border Economic Cooperation Area at the bridge-head of Bac Luan Bridge No.2 to connect Mong Cai Border Economic Zone with Dongxing National Major Development and Opening Pilot Area (China); piloting the supervision model of “ one corridor with 2 supervisors” at the pontoon bridge connecting Km3+4 commodity checkpoint in Hai Yen Ward (Mong Cai City) with Dongxing Border Berth (China); investing in 400ha Van Ninh Port (which is a part of Van Gia Port). Therefore, full logistics potentials will be uphold.

Thanks to diverse and prompt measures, total import and export turnover in 2019 in Mong Cai City reached 4.5 billion USD. Since the beginning of the year, the figure has reached 1.7 billion USD due to the influence of Covid-19.
