Quang Ninh effectively blocks Covid-19, welcoming FDI investment wave

Right from the first days of the year, determining that the Covid-19 epidemic still had potential unpredictable things, greatly affecting the pillars of economic development, Quang Ninh has quickly identified and reviewed areas and industries that still have a lot of room for development to take advantage of to promote investment and increase production productivity. One of the areas that the province is interested in leading is that, in addition to supporting businesses and investors to overcome and solve difficulties caused by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is necessary to boost promotion activities and attract many extra-budgetary investment projects, especially FDI projects.

The departments, agencies, branches and localities in the area have focused on reviewing and advising the province on planning to attract motivational and key projects with large investment capital, using clean technology, low resource consumption and high added value.

Particularly, the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board has contacted and worked with nearly 30 investors to spread the message of the province to be in the priority of attracting investment projects in the area of ​​industrial zones and economic zones. In which, typically, the Board worked with Iris Ohyama Company (Japan) to research and invest in electrical appliances and refrigerators; Amata Group, Toyota Tsusho Co., Ltd. and Aapico Hitech PCL Company (Thailand) to research and invest in the Mong Cai Smart City Complex project and automobile industry production projects; VSIP Hai Phong Co., Ltd. to research and invest in industrial park infrastructure projects; BYD Group (China) to research and implement investment projects in the field of processing and manufacturing; Jinsung Hitec Co., Ltd (Korea) to research and invest in Jinsung Hitec Vina project....

Especially, in less than 6 months, with the support and commitment of the provincial leaders and the active participation from relevant departments, agencies and localities, Jinko Solar Group has decided to choose Quang Ninh to invest in 2 projects with high technology content in Song Khoai Industrial Park. The first project is called Jinko Solar PV Vietnam Photovoltaic Cell Technology Project, with a total investment of nearly 500 million USD and the second project is the Jinko Solar Vietnam Silicon Plate Technology Project, with total capital invested nearly 400 million USD. These are the two projects with the largest FDI capital invested in the province so far, which are expected to create new development opportunities in the industrial sector.

In addition to the two typical new projects mentioned above, Quang Ninh province also recorded many more FDI projects to increase investment capital, such as The project of a factory to produce household appliances and electric bicycles of Multi-Sunny Co., Ltd. Vietnam (10 million USD); Lioncore Vietnam Factory of Lioncore Vietnam Industry Co., Ltd ($30 million); Haiyun Vietnam Project of Hai Van Co., Ltd. ($ 10 million); Garment Factory Project at Standard Factory No. 2 of Hoa Loi Dat Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd (8 million USD); Jingsung Hitec Vina Co., Ltd project of Jinsung Vina Co., Ltd. (over 13 million USD).

Not only the open and favorable investment environment, but investors also recognize and appreciate the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control model in Quang Ninh province. For FDI enterprises, in addition to receiving support from the province to bring experts and workers back to work, the province prioritizes the source of the Covid-19 vaccine for all officials and workers in enterprises in industrial zones and export processing zones. According to calculations of related industries, since the beginning of the year, Quang Ninh province has supported to bring over 800 foreigners from 191 enterprises into the province to work in enterprises; at the same time, supporting the implementation of Covid-19 prevention and control in businesses to ensure absolute safety, no F0 cases have appeared in enterprises and industrial zones.
