QUANG NINH STEPS UP ENVIRONMENTAL CAMPAIGNS AGAINST SEA PLASTIC WASTE
A campaign to clean the sea and combat plastic waste in the coastal area of Ha Long Bay was launched by the provincial Fatherland Front and various political-social organizations at Tuan Chau ward in Ha Long city.
The campaign aims to make significant contributions to forming a civilized lifestyle among inhabitants in the community and spreading the message on the importance of environmental protection, a crucial way to protect people’s lives.
Plastic pollution primarily affects tourism, maritime trade and fisheries sectors, which are important to Quang Ninh economy. Therefore, the representatives of the provincial Fatherland Front called on the whole community for the decreased consumption of plastic products, urged individuals and organizations to minimize their use of plastic packaging and join hands in working to change the consumer habits that lead to so much plastic being dumped into our seas.
After the launch, over 300 participants including officers and soldiers at the provincial border military and Naval Brigade 147 together with Ha Long citizens collected rubbish along the 1-kilometer coast at Tuan Chau Tourist Area.
