Samsung and Viettel cooperate towards creating a national digital economy
Samsung Vina Electronics Company, the representative of Samsung Group and the Military-run Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) have just signed a strategic cooperation agreement on the comprehensive development of 5G telecommunications equipment and information technology solutions to accelerate the digital transformation process for individual users and organizations in Vietnam.

As two leading technology-capable organizations in the region, Samsung and Viettel have reached many important cooperation agreements around core issues of research and development of 5G telecommunications network infrastructure and equipment; establish a commercial program to popularize 4G/5G equipment to individuals and households.
In addition, the two sides agreed to exchange resources and train personnel at all levels to promote information technology projects and solutions towards the Government and enterprises; meanwhile, jointly implementing projects of social responsibility.
The signing ceremony of a strategic cooperation agreement between Samsung and Viettel can be said to be in line with the orientation of the Vietnamese Government on digital economy development and national digital transformation.
Sharing at the ceremony, Mr. Le Dang Dung, Acting Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, said that as the largest technology corporation in Vietnam, Viettel has determined the pioneering and key mission of creating a digital society. Viettel's goal is to master the core technology, design equipment according to standards and create a product ecosystem to ensure national security.
"The cooperation relationship between Samsung and Viettel will create synergies to accelerate the digital transformation process, create breakthroughs and build competitive advantages in the 4.0 economy," said Mr. Le Dang Dung.
Meanwhile, according to Mr. Kevin Lee, General Director of Samsung Vina, with Viettel's great achievements in deploying 5G mobile network system and research and development capacity of national digital transformation projects, Samsung is honored to cooperate with Viettel to jointly create a digital society through digital transformation for the Government, businesses and end-users in Vietnam.
“Viettel with its full range Digital Solution Ecosystem and Samsung with its security and mobile management platform Samsung Knox are two inseparable points in supporting businesses and organizations to accelerate the digital transformation process, towards intelligent management with high efficiency", emphasized Mr. Kevin Lee.
Samsung, Korea's largest technology group, has a wide portfolio of technology innovations that have been helping customers globally move into the digital era through mobile devices and smart consumer electronics. For years, Samsung has driven new breakthroughs in 5G mobile network speeds.
In addition, outstanding innovative devices such as the generation of folding screen smartphones Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 are gradually demonstrating their ability to unleash the potential and work efficiency of users from various angles in the digital era.
At the enterprise level, with the Samsung Knox’s security solution, Samsung provides a trusted platform, easy management, and direct technical support to each business and organization. Meanwhile, in Vietnam and 10 investing countries, Viettel not only provides an advanced digital transformation platform but also is a pioneer in researching, building and developing information technology products and solutions, meeting the needs of digital transformation in a way that is suitable for all activities of domestic and foreign enterprises. Viettel is the first enterprise to deploy 5G to 16 provinces and cities across the country such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Binh Phuoc..., including using equipment manufactured by Viettel.
Along with 5G, Viettel owns the largest Internet of Things infrastructure in Vietnam with more than 2,000 coverage stations in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.
Viettel is also actively digitizing devices in the network system, converting traditional infrastructure to a cloud computing platform, promoting Big Data, AI data mining technologies...
In the past time, Viettel and Samsung have implemented many important cooperation activities to help popularize 5G devices to Vietnamese mobile users as well as jointly test 5G base stations to optimize power and connectivity for mobile devices, smart consumer electronics; contribute to completing the Smart Things ecosystem for personal needs, the Internet of Things (IoT) for public services and actualizing the Smart City vision in the territory of Vietnam.
