 The Van Don - Mong Cai expressway project is located in the Hanoi - Quang Ninh expressway system, which is identified as a route of strategic significance in the socio-economic development of the province and the region. The project is approved for investment in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), BOT contract, the total length of the route is nearly 80km, the scale of the highway is 4 lanes, the maximum speed is 120km/h, passing through the highways. districts of Van Don, Tien Yen, Dam Ha, Hai Ha and Mong Cai city.

According to the project investor, after completing the adjustment of the project investment scale, increasing the design speed from 100km/h to 120km/h, the contractors concentrated on human resources, vehicles and construction organization. actively throughout the route with a total of 60 continuous construction stitches.

Up to now, the volume of road foundation construction has reached 40% of the items under construction, including: organic excavation, embankment of K95 road, embankment and public roads (57km/59.6km have been opened). section Tien Yen - Mong Cai). The volume of construction of drainage and underground tunnels for people's living reached 50%. For the bridge construction bidding packages, the contractor is implementing construction of a total of 18/25 bridges on the whole route and is urgently making public service roads to access the construction of the remaining bridges. Currently, the items being implemented include: erection of concrete batching plant, construction of girder casting pedestal, construction of bored piles, pedestal structure of bridge abutment.
