On October 6, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Van, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired a meeting to listen to the consulting unit presenting ideas on implementing planning and attracting investment in Con Ong - Hon Net port and seaport urban area in Cam Pha city.

Con Ong - Hon Net Port (Cam Pha port cluster) has a deep water channel and has received the largest ship in the North region with a tonnage of nearly 180,000 tons. From 2018 to now, the port has accounted for over 60% of cargo through Quang Ninh's seaports, making a significant contribution to the province's economic growth. Despite the convergence of many potentials and advantages, at present, basic port infrastructure is not available, mainly operating in the form of goods transshipment, making it difficult for management and loading and unloading activities.
The Resolution of the 15th Provincial Party Congress determined that Quang Ninh will create a breakthrough in the seaport economy in the 2020-2025 period. In particular, Con Ong - Hon Net port is a driving force, prioritized for investment and implemented under the public-private partnership model.

On that basis, the consulting unit has proposed to study, plan and invest in Con Ong - Hon Net port to become a grade 1 port combining service industry zones, tourism, service and entertainment urban area with ecological orientation, associated with nature, civilization, modernity, synchronization according to international standards. Proposing to study the master plan close to the master plan of socio-economic development of Cam Pha city.
In which, the port area and industrial park are expected to have a design scale of about 890 hectares, meeting the size of ships up to 50,000DWT, being arranged to increase the port logistics space for Logistics and clean industry. The proposed urban area is 800-1,000 ha, including many functional subdivisions of prioritizing services and tourism such as: mixed zones, limestone park, amusement parks, resorts, marinas and seaplanes, logistics areas, golf courses... in line with the construction planning of Cam Pha city as a multi-functional city with tourism as the foundation.
In conclusion, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Van, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the consulting unit to closely coordinate with departments, branches and localities to specify, supplement and complete the idea of planning implementation. It is necessary to clearly define the target function, scale, detailed subdivision, public works, land fund, etc. to use as a basis for planning, attracting and selecting investors. In the process of implementing the planning idea, it is necessary to carefully evaluate the current status of the area, the current status of the projects that have been and are being prepared for investment, and the connecting transport infrastructure.
