Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway: Different values

Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway was built in the context of many difficulties.

Van Don - Mong Cai Expressway was deployed in a proud mood, when at the end of 2018, Quang Ninh inaugurated the Hai Phong - Ha Long - Van Don highway, which was evaluated by the Ministry of Transport and the Government as a miracle, a breakthrough. innovation, is a typical locality in construction of transport infrastructure in the country and a place where development ideas are born.

However, during the project implementation, across the border, the Covid-19 epidemic broke out strongly and spread globally. A series of measures to prevent epidemics have been implemented, including social distancing, etc., which has made the project construction organization difficult. At one point, the construction site was at an impasse when the investor's financial plan had problems; site clearance with the largest area ever with nearly 190ha had to be recovered in a short time, involving thousands of households and many other public works; complicated technical factors, lack of human resources, continuously increasing raw material prices and prolonged extreme weather…

Comrade Cao Tuong Huy, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said: The road of "The heart of the people - Y Party", thousands of households along the route have put their trust and expectation with new development when the road is formed. To ensure the financial plan, in July 2020, the province separated the Van Don - Mong Cai highway into two independent projects, including: Van Don - Tien Yen, deploying investment with the provincial budget and Tien Yen. - Mong Cai invests in the form of BOT; launched the Campaign “30 days and nights” to complete the site clearance work and completed it with only 15 days and nights; highest operation of the epidemic prevention and control mechanism with flexible scenarios and processes, moving the construction site to a closed state; overcome difficulties in increasing raw material prices by adding qualified contractors, transferring volumes and items between different bidding packages...

In turn, the difficulties have been solved, the project caught up with the progress, Quang Ninh has fulfilled its promise to the people when the project is put into use in 2022. In 2 more weeks, people will be able to ride on the most beautiful coastal highway in Vietnam today. The route will be put into use with a synchronous, modern, interconnected and overall connection with the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Ha Long - Van Don expressway, forming the longest highway in Vietnam (nearly 600km). and Quang Ninh is the province with the largest number of highway kilometers in the country (176km/1,046km). This is also the route with the most bridges across the sea, across rivers and streams (35 bridges) to minimize the impact on the mangrove system and the environment around the route.
