Vietnam - Korea: Towards a brighter future
(ĐCSVN) - The Prime Minister highly appreciated the cooperation relationship between the two countries which has always developed and been deepened; affirmed that Vietnam always attached importance to the two countries' strategic cooperative partnership and was willing to work closely with the Republic of Korea to promote the effectiveness and substantive existing mechanisms and open a new era of cooperation relationship with many new successes, higher goals, towards a better future in the two countries' relations.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh greets Korean Ambassador Park Noh Wan
On October 12, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed Korean Ambassador Park Noh Wan to Vietnam.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated the achievements of the Government and people of the Republic of Korea in recent years. The Prime Minister highly appreciated the cooperation relationship between the two countries which has always developed and been deepened; affirmed that Vietnam always attached importance to the two countries' strategic cooperative partnership and was willing to work closely with the Republic of Korea to promote the effectiveness and substantive existing mechanisms and open a new era of cooperation relationship with many new successes, higher goals, towards a better future in the two countries' relations. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides continue to maintain delegation exchanges and high-level contacts in various flexible forms in the coming time, strengthening people-to-people diplomacy, thereby strengthening mutual trust and understanding.
Regarding cooperation against the COVID-19 epidemic, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the Korean Government and businesses for supporting Vietnam; Emphasizing that Vietnam has been making great efforts to promote vaccine diplomacy to accelerate the vaccination campaign for the entire population, creating a basis for safe and flexible adaptation, effective control of the epidemic, recovery and development of production and business, and return to normal life. The Prime Minister hopes the Korean side will continue to cooperate and support Vietnam in epidemic prevention, especially in vaccines and drugs to treat COVID-19, develop the pharmaceutical industry, and improve medical capacity.
Regarding economic cooperation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh wished that the two sides would continue to promote Korean businesses, especially large corporations and enterprises, to continue to invest more in Vietnam; suggested that the two sides study the resumption of commercial flights as soon as possible; soon recognizing each other's vaccine passports, normalizing economic activities between the two countries, thereby contributing to stabilizing the supply chain of goods between the two countries and globally. The Prime Minister also asked the Korean side to pay attention and then create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work in Korea.
Ambassador Park Noh Wan congratulated the recent flexible, effective and appropriate epidemic prevention measures of the Vietnamese Government, especially in responding to the fourth outbreak in Vietnam and moving towards the goal of "safe adaptation to COVID-19”. On this occasion, the Ambassador announced that the Korean Government will support the Government and people of Vietnam with 1.1 million doses of Astra Zeneca vaccine and is expected to arrive in Vietnam tomorrow (October 13); Emphasizing that this is the first and largest round of bilateral vaccine support from Korea to partners, in the context of global shortage of vaccines as well as difficulties in Korea. The Ambassador affirmed that Korea will continue to consider medical support, including vaccines, for Vietnam in the near future.
Ambassador Park Noh Wan affirmed that Vietnam is the most important partner of Korea in the economy, investment and trade; especially in the context of complicated COVID-19 pandemic, two-way trade turnover still increased by 18%, Vietnam is still an attractive and safe destination for Korean investors; Korea's new investment in Vietnam this year increased 24% over the previous year. Ambassador Park Noh Wan said the Korean side wanted to upgrade the relationship between the two countries to a new height on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations; Emphasizing that with the efforts and cooperation of the Governments, the relationship between the two countries will achieve more great achievements in the coming time, consistent with the development potential and wishes of the two parties.
At the meeting, the Ambassador sent the Korean Prime Minister's message to invite Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to pay an official visit to Korea as soon as possible. The Prime Minister thanked and proposed to arrange a visit through diplomatic channels.
