On the afternoon of June 1, petroleum products were decided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Finance to adjust prices with an increase of 600-920 VND/liter, to 31,573 VND/liter... Thus, the price of gasoline continuously setting record levels and is having the highest level in history.

Talking in the corridor of the National Assembly on the afternoon of June 1, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that currently, the price of gasoline in Vietnam is lower than the world price, leading to the situation of "flowing" of gasoline abroad.

According to Mr. Dien, in principle, an increase in gasoline prices increases the price of input materials, thereby increasing production costs, affecting the implementation progress of the socio-economic recovery program.

"It's not wrong to say that, but in the opposite direction, Vietnam's economy has a very high openness, so our goods are mainly made for export. reflecting the right value, it is invisible to cause damage to the country's economy," said the Minister of Industry and Trade.

According to him, Vietnam is a trading partner of many countries and territories, so if they "squeeze input prices," countries can sue us for anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, even anti-dumping duties. currency manipulation. Not to mention, the consequence of maintaining gasoline prices too low is the situation of smuggling gasoline across the border. Therefore, it is necessary to consider and calculate carefully, not say one way.

Regarding the solution, the Minister of Industry and Trade said that on the one hand, we still have to try to use tools, including taxes, to control the market to reduce prices. In the event that gasoline prices rise too high, it is necessary to consider tools such as welfare policies to support the disadvantaged. The objective is to control prices, ensure effective management both domestically and in accordance with international regulations and laws.
