Workshop on green growth agriculture

On the afternoon of November 17, at the Provincial Planning, Fair and Exhibition Palace, Quang Ninh province (Vietnam) coordinated with Hokkaido province (Japan) to organize a seminar on green growth agriculture.

Attending the conference were comrades: Le Minh Hoan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Nguyen Xuan Ky, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Vu Van Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. On the Japanese side, there were Mr. Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance, Former Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan; Maitachi Shoji, Member of the Senate, Deputy Minister in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan; Yamada Takio, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Vu Van Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that with outstanding potentials and opportunities, in recent years, Quang Ninh province has promoted its will to be self-reliant, self-reliant and dynamic. , innovative, has achieved many great achievements in all fields. The economy is developing strongly, with a high and stable growth rate, continuously for 8 consecutive years, from 2016 until now it has increased by over 10%. The scale of the economy in 2023 is estimated to reach 312,000 billion VND, GRDP per capita is estimated to reach 9,400 USD, economic and social infrastructure is fully invested, and people's lives are improved.

Quang Ninh is the pioneer province to study in Japan and bring the OVOP Movement to Quang Ninh, building it into the rural economic program OCOP, which is evaluated by the Central Government and replicated into the National OCOP program. Quang Ninh also has many agricultural cooperation with Japanese provinces and cities in Hokkaido province.

With the goal of developing the agricultural economy, improving added value, and contributing to the common goal of civilized rural development, through this workshop, Quang Ninh province proposed to the two Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development. (Agriculture and Rural Development) Vietnam, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan can consider Quang Ninh as a cooperation center for aquaculture and processing of agricultural, forestry and fishery products for export. Since then, it has become an exemplary cooperation between the two Ministries of the two countries Japan - Vietnam.

Speaking the strategic orientation at the conference, Comrade Le Minh Hoan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized: Vietnam and Japan have established diplomatic relations for half a century. The agriculture of the two countries has many similarities. Vietnam always considers Japan an exemplary model to study. Agricultural cooperation between the two countries in recent times has contributed significantly to the development of Vietnam's agriculture.

Currently, Japan is accompanying and supporting Vietnam to implement the industry strategy to 2030, vision to 2045, through the process of changing thinking from "agricultural production" to "agricultural economics" to achieve the goals of ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, and smart farmers.

Therefore, in the coming time, Vietnamese agriculture needs to clearly position the role of human resources in agricultural, farmer and rural development policies; change thinking, new and different approaches in the trend of globalization, intellectualization, technology, and greening; perfecting the production process, synchronization and system from thinking to action.

The agricultural industry also expects the sustainable agricultural and rural development strategy to be widely communicated to properly position the role, position, and mission of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers.

At the conference, experts and speakers from Quang Ninh and Japan shared useful, specific and practical information about the potential strengths of Quang Ninh's agricultural industry and measures to improve the seafood processing industry. Quang Ninh, the future of Hokkaido's fisheries industry, the agriculture-welfare linkage model, JICA's cooperation orientation in the coming time.
